VANCOUVER, BC – “Community spirit is our reason for being.”
Those are the words of Vancouver Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi, and as a member of the front office who spends a lot of time with the first team, I can tell you for certain that it resonates across the club. Making a difference in the community is something we take pride in – whether it’s putting smiles on faces at BC Children’s Hospital or picking up garbage at Crab Park.
Vancouver is our home. This city matters to us.
And that’s why Wednesday was such an important day for the club. Whitecaps FC held an inaugural Day of Giving on Wednesday, supported by Benjamin Moore, in which players, staff, and coaches volunteered for a variety of different organizations and causes throughout the Lower Mainland.
Fourteen different players, many of their partners, and countless staff participated, logging approximately 300 volunteer hours.
The club's motto is "Our all, our honour." And on Wednesday, we saw exactly what that means.

A big thanks to Benjamin Moore for supplying the paint used to paint the playground at YWCA Crabtree Corner Childcare Centre, which provides a range of programs and services to help marginalized women and families living in the Downtown Eastside.
