Canada's Men's National Team jumped to first place in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying with a 2-1 victory over Mexico on a chilly Tuesday night in Edmonton.
Right before the halftime interval, Alistair Johnston forced a big save out of Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, with Cyle Larin pouncing on the rebound to give Canada the advantage going into the break.
In the 51st minute, Larin would notch his second goal of the match to become Canada's joint all-time leading goalscorer at 22 goals.
Mexico would pull a goal back in the 90th minute, as Hector Herrera headed the ball past Canada goalkeeper Milan Borjan.
Next up for Canada is a trip to Honduras on January 27, 2022. Venue, kickoff time and broadcast schedule will be confirmed at a later date.
