WFC2 sign midfielder Jackson Castro

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that the club has signed midfielder Jackson Castro to a Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) contract in MLS NEXT Pro. Castro is signed through 2025, with an option for 2026.

  • 22 goals and 22 assists over 74 appearances during his four years
  • Led the Bluejays with nine goals and seven assists during his senior season in 2024
  • Played in USL League Two with Vermont Green

Castro, 22, played four seasons at the University of Creighton, where he was teammates with now WFC2 teammate Mark O'Neill. In that time, he was twice named to the All-BIG EAST First Team (2023 and 2024), and once to the Second Team (2022). During that time, he scored 22 goals and recorded 22 assists over 74 appearances.

In his senior season, he led the Bluejays with nine goals and seven assists while starting 17 of 18 matches. He closed the season with a goal or assist in nine matches, highlighted by two goals and two assists in a 6-1 win over Butler on senior day.

In-between his collegiate seasons, Castro spent time playing for Vermont Green in USL League Two.

In his youth, the native of Plano, Texas played for Solar SC. Castro's father, Diego, played professionally for 11 years in Chile, Germany, and the United States.
