WEEKLY STORYLINES
GUARDING SWANGARD: Whitecaps FC 2 will look to continue racking up points in a tight Western Conference this Sunday, June 9 as they continue their four-game homestand with a clash against LAFC2 at Swangard Stadium. The young 'Caps are coming off back-to-back wins at Swangard, claiming a 1-0 win over Ventura County FC on May 26 and defeating The Town FC by a score of 3-1 last weekend. WFC2 have also won three of their last four matches, with the other win coming against Sunday's opponents on May 12 at Titan Stadium as the young 'Caps played to a thrilling 4-3 away win thanks to goals from Cyprian Kachwele, Mihail Gherasimencov, Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau, and Jay Herdman.
IN-FORM HERDMAN: A player who's been a big part of WFC2's recent success is Jay Herdman. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who was part of New Zealand's squad at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, bagged a brace in last weekend's win over The Town FC to bring him level on goal contributions this season with Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau. Herdman is also one assist away from becoming WFC2's leader in assists in the club's MLS NEXT Pro era.
