CASCADIA RIVALRY: After securing a 1-0 victory over Houston Dynamo 2 last weekend, Whitecaps FC 2 hit the road for a Cascadia clash against Timbers2 on Sunday, May 14 at Providence Park. The match will mark the second meeting of the season between the two teams, with the young 'Caps claiming victory in the first match of the season at Swangard Stadium by a score of 2-1. The previous meeting at Providence Park ended in a 2-2 draw, with Timbers2 winning the ensuing shootout.
LIVE, LAUGH, LEVONTE: WFC2 forward Levonte Johnson has enjoyed a fruitful start to life with the 'Caps. The native of Brampton, Ontario, who has tallied three goals and an assist in MLS NEXT Pro this season, signed an MLS short-term agreement with the 'Caps first team for their Canadian Championship quarterfinal match against York United FC and scored on his first team debut en route to a 4-1 victory. With the goal, Johnson became the second WFC2 player to score on his first team debut after signing a short-term agreement, with Simon Becher accomplishing the feat last season against Houston Dynamo FC.
U-20 WORLD CUP BOUND: WFC2 centre back Finn Linder and midfielder Jay Herdman have been named to New Zealand's FIFA U-20 World Cup roster. The tournament, which is set to take place from May 20 to June 11, will see New Zealand take on hosts Argentina, Guatemala, and Uzbekistan in Group A.
