Whitecaps FC head coach Marc Dos Santos and forward Fredy Montero have been selected to the MLS Team of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Dos Santos steered the 'Caps to two consecutive wins during the week, defeating Montreal Impact at home on Wednesday, then snatching a road victory at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
Montero was involved in all five goals in the two wins. Against the Impact, the 33-year old striker scored two goals and an assist, then added two more assists against RSL.
"I am better now. I feel that I'm in my prime. I know a lot of the game," said Montero following Saturday's win. "I know when to run or when not to run. I know when to get back in the ball, the possession. During my career, I've accumulated this experience that today I can say that even though I'm not that young, I know I can use my time in the field better."
The 'Caps go for a third straight win on Wednesday, September 23 when they visit Los Angeles Football Club. Kickoff at Banc of California Stadium is at 7:30 p.m. PT, live on TSN1/4 and TSN Radio 1040.
