VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s defence of the Voyageurs Cup is alive and well.
The defending Canadian champions advanced to the 2016 Amway Canadian Championship Final after defeating Ottawa Fury FC 3-0 on Wednesday night in the second leg of the semifinal at BC Place, which secures a 3-2 series victory on aggregate.

Whitecaps FC will now face Toronto FC in the two-leg final, starting Tuesday, June 21 at BMO Field (4:30 p.m. PT on TSN). The Voyageurs Cup will then be awarded on Wednesday, June 29, as Whitecaps FC host the decisive second leg at BC Place (7 p.m. PT – tickets on sale NOW).
Tickets are included in ‘Caps Club Season Ticket Memberships.
Toronto FC secured their tournament final berth with a 4-2 aggregate victory over Montreal Impact in the other semifinal, including a scoreless draw at Stade Saputo in Wednesday's second leg.
Last month in MLS play, Whitecaps FC defeated the Reds 4-3 in a thriller at BMO Field.
AMWAY CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
The Amway Canadian Championship is a five-team tournament that crowns the top team in Canada. In addition to qualifying for the CONCACAF Champions League, the winner also takes home the supporters-created Voyageurs Cup (which was first awarded in 2002).
Last year, the ‘Caps won their first-ever Voyageurs Cup after years of heartbreak, defeating Montreal 4-2 on aggregate in the tournament final.
This is the fifth time in six years Whitecaps FC will play in the tournament final.
