In their first road trip of the season, the U-16s earned two victories while the U-18s had a loss and a draw.
U-18
After a 2-0 defeat in their Saturday match against Nomads SC, the U-18s responded by battling to a 2-2 draw at San Diego Surf on Sunday.
The Surf took the lead early in the second half, but the ‘Caps responded to go ahead 2-1 on goals from Daniel Sagno and Terran Campbell – both of whom scored in the season opener last weekend.
But five minutes from full-time, Sad Diego drew level and the match ended 2-2.

U-16
It was a winning weekend for the U-16s with a 3-0 victory against Nomads SC on Saturday, and a 3-1 win over San Diego Surf on Sunday.
The ‘Caps came out flying in their first road match of the season, scoring three goals in the first 12 minutes on Saturday to cruise to victory. Striker Alan Camacho scored in the second and third minutes of the match, and Nicolas Apostol added a third on 12 minutes.
“Overall, a pleasing display from the boys,” said U-16 head coach Adam Day. “We asked them to be ruthless and three goals in the first 12 minutes was exactly that. All credit to the players for building on last week. We moved the ball better, played with more cohesion, and certainly displayed more of a collective effort.”
Newcomer Alphonso Davies led the way with a hat-trick on Sunday. After first scoring in the 12th minute, San Diego tied the match on 26 minutes. But Davies scored twice again in the final 10 minutes to bring home all three points on a very hot and humid day in San Diego.
“It was a very determined performance by the group to round off an impressive weekend,” said Day on Sunday. “We could have mentally defeated ourselves at 1-1 and made excuses, but we were resilient and found a way to grind out a win. We now look positively to next Friday’s home game.”
