Darren Mattocks has done it again.
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC striker scored in his second straight game for Jamaica on Sunday afternoon. Only this time it was in a losing cause, as the Reggae Boyz fell 3-1 to Mexico in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final.
Mattocks, whose header against the U.S. helped Jamaica reach the Gold Cup Final for the first time in the nation’s history, scored in the 78th minute after getting subbed on just before the hour-mark. After receiving the ball at the top of the box, the 24-year-old cut to his right and calmly slotted it into the far corner to score his 10th goal in 30 appearances for Jamaica.
Mattocks will now return to Vancouver ahead of Saturday’s Cascadia derby with Seattle Sounders FC (7 p.m. PT kickoff on TSN1).
