PROFILE
A product of Langley, BC, Simon Colyn joined the first team in April 2018, becoming then the 15th youngest player in league history to sign an MLS contract.
In August 2021, Colyn joined Jong PSV from the Dutch second division on loan through June 2022. The agreement includes an option to purchase.
WHITECAPS FC
'20-'21: Colyn began the 2020-21 season on loan at the youth team of Italian Serie B side SPAL. Primarily deployed as a centre midfielder during his time with SPAL, the ‘Caps homegrown started five of his 13 appearances in the Primavera 1 youth league and recorded a goal as well as an assist. Colyn made another two starts for the club in the Coppa Italia Primavera. With his SPAL loan deal expiring in June, Colyn once again departed for another loan stint in August to Jong PSV from the Dutch second division in a deal through June 2022 with an option to buy.
'18: Colyn made his first-team debut in the 2018 MLS season finale against Portland Timbers, coming on for the departing and fellow WFC Academy product Alphonso Davies. At 16 years and 219 days old, Colyn became the second-youngest player to make an MLS appearance for Whitecaps FC, next only to Davies. He is also the third-youngest to make a first-team appearance for the ‘Caps since the club’s inception in 1974.
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
'19: Colyn scored two goals in eight starts and nine appearances for the WFC Development Squad, joining the team on trips to the United Kingdom and South Korea.
WHITECAPS FC ACADEMY
'18-'19: Colyn featured for the WFC Academy U-17 and U-19 sides in the 2018-19 US Soccer Development Academy season, totalling six goals in 10 starts and 11 appearances. '17-'18: He split time between the U-17 and the U-19 sides during the season, recording a combined total of 19 goals in 28 starts and 33 appearances including playoffs.
INTERNATIONAL
Colyn was 14 years old when he made his Canadian youth program debut in 2017 at the U-15 identification camp under coach Rob Gale. He scored a goal in four starts and five appearances for Canada in the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship.
YOUTH
Colyn developed with Langley United YSA and Surrey United SC before joining Whitecaps FC Academy in 2016.
