Roberto Domínguez

PROFILE
A young but experienced centre back with a winning pedigree, Roberto Domínguez joined Whitecaps FC in August 2018 via free agency after participating in a week-long trial earlier in the year. The Salvadoran international arrived in Vancouver after beginning his professional career in his native Primera División.

EL SALVADOR
'15-'18: Domínguez began his professional career in Salvadoran Primera División, making his debut with CD Juventud Independiente in 2014, then featured with Santa Tecla FC from 2015 until his departure for Vancouver in 2018. In over four seasons, Domínguez recorded 129 starts and 136 appearances with one goal in league play. He also saw Concacaf League and Concacaf Champions League action for Santa Tecla, making six starts and seven appearances. Domínguez was a member of the 2016-17 Santa Tecla side that won both the Apertura and Clausura titles, as well as the Copa El Salvador, the top knockout football tournament in the country.

INTERNATIONAL
Domínguez has made 15 appearances for the Salvadoran men’s national team as of August 2018, and was on the La Selecta roster for the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup. He featured in the World Cup qualifying match against Canada at BC Place in June 2016. Domínguez has also featured for the youth national team, and was on the U-21 side in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.
