PROFILE
A left fullback who can also play in midfield, defender Jordan Harvey joined Whitecaps FC after being acquired in exchange for allocation money from Major League Soccer rivals Philadelphia Union on July 7, 2011. An experienced MLS campaigner with more than 200 appearances in the league, the native of Mission Viejo, California, started his career with Colorado Rapids after being selected in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. Harvey scored the 10,000th goal in MLS history on June 19, 2013 against Chivas USA. He was given the 2013 Humanitarian of the Year Award, the 2015 Jock MacDonald Unsung Hero Award, and the 2016 Whitecaps FC Player of the Year award as part of the club’s annual player recognitions. Harvey became the Whitecaps FC all-time leader in MLS regular season starts, appearances, and minutes played in 2016.
MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
2017: Harvey started all 28 of his regular season appearances, scoring one goal against New York City FC on July 5. He played a key role in two of the 'Caps biggest wins of the season, earning an MLS Team of the Week selection in the Week 16 4-0 victory at FC Dallas, and tallying the game-winning assist at Sporting Kansas City on September 30 to clinch a postseason berth. Both were the 'Caps first-ever victories in each venue. Harvey also made one appearance in the MLS Cup Playoffs, coming on as a first-half substitute in the decisive leg of the Western Conference Semifinal against Seattle Sounders FC. 2016: Harvey was named the Whitecaps FC BMO Player of the Year after starting all of his 28 regular season appearances. He tallied two goals - in the season opener versus Montreal Impact, and in Week 8 versus FC Dallas, earning an MLS Team of the Week selection for the latter. Harvey became the club’s all-time leader in MLS regular season starts, appearances, and minutes played early in the season. 2015: Harvey was recognized with the Jock MacDonald Unsung Hero Award for his contributions to the Vancouver backline that conceded the fewest goals in MLS (tied with Seattle Sounders FC) and recorded 13 clean sheets (tied for the league-high), as he made 25 starts in 26 regular season appearances and recorded 11 blocks (third-best on the team). He made this 100th MLS regular season start for Whitecaps FC on July 4 at Colorado, and his 200th career MLS regular season start versus Houston on October 25. Harvey earned a bench selection to the MLS Team of the Week for his one-assist performance in the 4-0 win versus Real Salt Lake on August 8. In the MLS Cup Playoffs, Harvey played the full 90 minutes in both legs of the Western Semifinal versus Portland. 2014: Harvey was a constant fixture at left back for the ‘Caps, as he started all 33 of his appearances in the regular season. Harvey also played all 90 minutes in the team’s MLS Cup Playoff match against FC Dallas on October 29. On the offensive end, Harvey contributed two goals on the season. 2013: The American defender had an auspicious season offensively for Whitecaps FC, finishing fourth on the team with four goals from his left back position - a career high during his eight years in MLS, while also registering one assist. From June 1 to June 19, Harvey scored three goals in four matches. His tallies all proved to be clutch for Vancouver during the season, including an equalizing goal on the road in a 2-1 win over New York Red Bulls on June 1, a goal that gave the 'Caps a 3-2 lead in an eventual 4-2 victory over New England Revolution on June 15, an equalizing goal versus Chivas USA in a 3-1 win on June 19 that marked the 10,000th goal in MLS history, and finally a tying goal in a 1-1 draw on the road against Portland Timbers on August 3. In total, the Mission Viejo, California native started 23 of his 24 appearances for Whitecaps FC. 2012: Harvey assisted on Sebastien Le Toux’s second goal of the season during a 3-1 away defeat to San Jose Earthquakes on April 7. He then scored his first Whitecaps FC goal during a 3-1 home win over Houston Dynamo on June 10 before assisting on Darren Mattocks’ second goal during a 3-2 defeat at Toronto FC on July 11. Harvey then started Whitecaps FC’s first-ever match in the MLS Cup Playoffs on November 1, as Vancouver fell 2-1 at defending champions LA Galaxy. 2011: After spending the first half of the season with Philadelphia Union, Harvey started all 14 of his league appearances for Whitecaps FC that year. His Vancouver debut came in a 2-1 away defeat to former club Colorado Rapids on July 9. He then made his home debut in the Herbalife World Football Challenge friendly, as Whitecaps FC suffered a 2-1 defeat to English Premier League club Manchester City FC at Empire Field on July 18. He then recorded two assists in the 4-2 home win over Chicago Fire on August 7 before assisting on Camilo Sanvezzo's consolation goal during a 2-1 away defeat to Pacific Northwest rivals Portland Timbers on August 20. Harvey made his 100th career appearance in MLS when he started Whitecaps FC's 3-1 home defeat to Pacific Northwest rivals Seattle Sounders FC on September 24. Playing as a left-sided midfielder, Harvey recorded assists on goals by Camilo and Long Tan during Whitecaps FC's 2-1 home win over D.C. United at BC Place on Oct. 12. Before joining Whitecaps FC on July 7, Harvey started all 16 of his appearances in his second season with Philadelphia, with the defender recording an assist on Gabriel Farfan’s opening goal during a 6-2 victory at Toronto FC on May 28. He also started both of the Union’s MLS matches versus Whitecaps FC that year. This included Philadelphia’s 1-0 home win over Vancouver on March 26 and the Union’s 1-0 away defeat to Whitecaps FC on June 18. Harvey also appeared in the Union’s play-in round defeat away to MLS Eastern Conference rivals D.C. United in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Philadelphia fell 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 extra-time draw on April 6. 2010: As a member of Philadelphia’s inaugural MLS squad, Harvey started all but one of the Union’s league matches that season, as they missed the MLS Cup Playoffs after finishing seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. A fixture at left fullback, his first goal for Philadelphia came during a 2-1 away defeat to Toronto FC on April 15. He also assisted on Jack McInerney’s equalizing goal, as the Union won 2-1 at Eastern Conference rivals New England Revolution on August 28. 2009: In his second and final season of action with Colorado Rapids, Harvey started all but one of the club’s 30 league matches that season, as Colorado missed the MLS Cup Playoffs after finishing sixth in the Western Conference standings. A steady presence in the Rapids backline, the defender recorded three assists that season. Harvey’s time in Colorado came to an end when he was Philadelphia’s first pick in the 2009 MLS Expansion Draft on November 25. 2008: After helping the Rapids second string to MLS Reserve League titles in 2006 and 2007, Harvey made his MLS debut in his third season with Colorado, as the Rapids defeated D.C. United 2-0 on May 4. He appeared in half of Colorado’s regular season matches that season, as the Rapids just missed the MLS Cup Playoffs by a single point after a fourth-place finish in the Western Conference standings. He recorded his first MLS point when he assisted on Conor Casey’s goal during a 1-1 home draw with Rocky Mountain Cup rivals Real Salt Lake on October 25.

2016: Harvey recorded an assist on Nicolás Mezquida's goal during the second leg of the 2016 ACC final against Toronto FC, bringing the match up to an even 1-1 aggregate score in the 47th minute. 2015: Harvey made two starts in his three ACC appearances, helping Vancouver win their first-ever Voyageurs Cup.

2013: Harvey found the back of the net while acting captain in the Reserves 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake Reserves on April 14. 2011: Harvey played the first half in Whitecaps FC reserves 1-0 home win over San Jose Earthquakes reserves on September 6. 2007: Harvey enjoyed a successful second season with Colorado Rapids reserves, as they defended their Reserve League title after going undefeated during the regular season before defeating Toronto FC reserves 3-0 at home in the final on October 7. The defender registered two goals and an assist in 10 starts for Colorado’s second string that year. 2006: After being drafted by the Rapids in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft on January 26, Harvey’s first season in Colorado was spent in the reserves, as he alternated between left fullback and the left side of midfield. He played in all but one match for Colorado’s second string that season, scoring one goal and adding two assists, as he helped the Rapids reserves win the Reserve League title that year with a final victory over New York Red Bulls reserves.
UNITED SOCCER LEAGUES FIRST DIVISION
2006: During his first MLS season with Colorado Rapids, Harvey had two loan spells with former USL First Division club Seattle Sounders, making a total of 12 appearances that year. The defender first joined the Pacific Northwest club on June 15 and made his USL-1 debut the next day, as Seattle suffered a 4-1 defeat at Puerto Rico Islanders on June 16. He registered two assists on goals by retired MLS striker Cam Weaver, as the Sounders drew 2-2 at Minnesota Thunder on June 24. His first USL-1 goal was the opening strike in Seattle’s 2-1 home win over Miami FC on July 1. After returning to the Rapids on July 8, Harvey returned on loan to the Sounders on July 20 for the remainder of the season. Seattle missed the USL-1 playoffs that year after finishing seventh in the standings.
UNITED SOCCER LEAGUES PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
2005: Prior to his senior year at UCLA, Harvey played a second season in the PDL with Orange County Blue Star, where he was named to the league’s All-Western Conference Team. In a squad that included several current MLS players, the defender played in all but one of Orange County’s 16 regular season matches, as the Blue Star claimed top spot in the Southwest Division on the PDL’s Western Conference. His three goals for Orange County came in a 4-0 home win over Southern California Seahorses (June 1); a 5-0 victory at home to BYU Cougars (June 10); and a 2-0 away win over California Gold (July 16). In the PDL playoffs, the Blue Star claimed the Western Conference title after defeating Cascade Surge - who were led then by former Whitecaps FC head coach Martin Rennie - 3-0 in the final on July 31. Orange County reached the PDL semifinals before falling 2-1 to eventual league champions Des Moines Menace on August 6. 2004: During his first season in the USL PDL, Harvey scored three goals and added two assists as he helped guide Orange County to a first place finish in the Western Conference.
COLLEGE
Harvey enjoyed a distinguished career in NCAA Division I with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), having been part of the first class to win four-straight Pac-10 Conference titles in the school's history and that claimed the NCAA College Cup title in 2002. 2005: The defender’s senior year with the Bruins saw him selected to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Season Second Team and earn All Pac-10 second team honours after scoring three goals and recording two assists in 20 appearances with UCLA. A key defender that helped the Bruins earn 14 clean sheets (second-most in a season in UCLA history), his goals came in a 3-2 defeat to Santa Clara University (September 2); a 2-0 win over University of California, Berkeley (September 30); and a 2-0 win over Stanford University (October 2). His assists came in a 4-0 win over the University of Maryland on September 4 and on an overtime winner, as the Bruins won 1-0 at Stanford University on November 4. 2004: As a junior, Harvey was one of two UCLA players to start in all 20 matches for the Bruins that year, earning a second All Pac-10 honorable mention selection. His four assists that season included a 1-0 win at University of California, Riverside, on September 5; a 3-0 victory at University of California, Berkeley, on October 15; a 2-1 victory at University of Washington (November 5), and 4-0 home win over University of San Diego on November 11. 2003: As a sophomore, Harvey ranked third on the Bruins in goals (four) and fifth in points (10) after starting seven of his 16 appearances for UCLA that year. The defender scored goals in a 4-2 home win over University of California, Berkeley (October 17); a 3-0 home win over Stanford University (October 19); a 5-0 victory at home to Oregon State University (November 9); and a 1-0 home win over California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) (November 15). Harvey missed the postseason with UCLA after representing the United States at the 2003 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. 2002: A freshman member of the Bruins’ NCAA Division I championship-winning side, Harvey started seven of his 13 appearances in his first season with UCLA, registering an assist during a 2-1 victory over Fresno State on October 13. He was an All Pac-10 honourable mention selection, despite missing UCLA’s last three Pac-10 matches, as he was on international duty with the USA U-20 squad. The Americans qualified for the 2003 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in November 2002.
INTERNATIONAL
Harvey represented the United States at youth international level from U-14 to U-20. U-20: The defender helped the USA qualify for the 2003 FIFA U-20 World Cup and made a late substitute appearance at the final tournament in the United Arab Emirates, as Thomas Rongen’s side defeated South Korea 2-0 in December 2003. The Americans won Group F and reached the quarterfinals before falling 2-1 in extra time to Argentina on December 12, 2003. U-17: Harvey served as co-captain of the USA U-17 squad, having been a member of his country’s U-17 Residency program. He led John Ellinger’s side to the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago and made two starts in Group B. This included a 1-0 defeat to Japan on September 14, 2001, and a 5-3 defeat to eventual winners France on September 16, 2001. The USA missed out on reaching the quarterfinals after finishing bottom of Group B. In 2000, Harvey scored his first international goal during a 4-1 victory over arch-rivals Canada.
HIGH SCHOOL/AMATEUR
A soccer standout at Capistrano Valley High School in his hometown of Mission Viejo, California, Harvey was the first player from the state to win America’s Gatorade National High School Boys Soccer Player of the Year award in 2001. Former Whitecaps FC player Lee Nguyen went on to win the accolade in 2004. As a member of the Cougars, Harvey earned Parade All-American honours as both a junior and senior. He also played youth soccer for Strikers FC in nearby Irvine, California.
PERSONAL
Harvey was born and raised in the southern Orange County city of Mission Viejo, California. His parents are Jack and Jill Harvey and he says that his dad’s moustache is the best one you will ever see. His brother was the captain of their surfing team in high school and his sister’s four daughters are all named after gems - Ruby, Pearl, Opal, and Garnet. The defender attended Capistrano High School where he was awarded the Gatorade National Player of the Year as a senior, which he says sparked his dream to be a professional player. During his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar – his favourite artists include Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. Harvey also enjoys spending time with his family and friends. As a student at UCLA, the defender majored in sociology. In November 2013, Harvey got engaged to singer/actress Kimberly Caldwell, and the couple wed in December 2014. They welcomed their first child, Harlow Monroe, in October 2015.

When not concentrating on his soccer career, Harvey’s favourite pastimes are baseball, paddle boarding, and checking out the Vancouver restaurant scene. Harvey supports the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation. For his avid work in the community, the California native was named the club's 2013 Humanitarian of the Year at the annual BMO player awards.
