PROFILE
Georges Mukumbilwa, a midfielder from Winnipeg, Manitoba, joined the Whitecaps FC Academy in September 2014 after playing for Portage Trail Soccer Club. He was signed to the club's Development Squad in July of 2018, and spent the 2019 preseason with the first team in Hawaii and Los Angeles. On August 23, 2019, Mukumbilwa was signed to an MLS Homegrown contract.

Mukumbilwa made his MLS debut in the regular season finale, coming on as a substitute versus Real Salt Lake on October 6.

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
2019:
 Mukumbilwa scored a goal in 10 starts and appearances, making the trip to the United Kingdom and Mexico.


DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
2017-18: In his final season in the DA, Mukumbilwa started 21 of 28 regular season matches for the U-19 team, scoring eight goals. He would go on to start five of six playoff appearances. 2016-2017: Mukumbilwa started 20 of 28 appearances for Whitecaps FC U-18 scoring six goals. In the playoffs he started two of three matches. 2015-16: Started 23 of 28 appearances for the U-16 team, scoring six goals. Started two of three playoff matches.

INTERNATIONAL
2016: Mukumbilwa was invited to the men's U-18 series in El Salvador under coach Rob Gale. 

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
2016: Mukumbilwa was called up to Whitecaps FC 2 for their September 2 match at Seattle Sounders FC 2 but did not enter the match.

YOUTH/AMATEUR
Mukumbilwa had a dominant year with Portage Trail in 2014. Named an assistant captain of his U-15 squad, the midfielder was deemed Player of the Year for the U-14- to U-16 age group. He also played for Manitoba’s U-15 Provincial Team, with whom he competed in the Pacific Coast Challenge. Mukumbilwa was named to the Players of Distinction team during the tournament.

PERSONAL
Mukumbilwa was born in Kalima in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His family includes his mother, Feza, and two siblings, Tchakas and Faranaga. He lists his coach with Portage Trail, Vince Scerbo, as the biggest influence on his soccer career thus far, citing his mentorship and encouragement.

Mukumbilwa lists Spanish giants FC Barcelona as his favourite soccer club, while midfielder Andres Iniesta is his favourite player. Fittingly, Mukumbilwa dreams of one day playing in Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s home stadium. Off the pitch, the midfielder enjoys playing FIFA and hanging out with his friends.
