Felipe Martins

PROFILE
A fiercely competitive, consistent, and experienced box-to-box midfielder in the prime of his career, Felipe was acquired by Whitecaps FC via trade in March 2018 after previously starring for Montreal Impact, and most recently, New York Red Bulls, compiling an average of nearly four goals and seven assists per season. He is fourth in MLS in passes into the final third from 2012 to 2018.

WHITECAPS FC
'18: Felipe had a solid first MLS season in Vancouver, recording one goal and seven assists in 24 starts and 29 appearances. He led the team in at least five statistical categories: 40 successful crosses/corners (more than twice the next player), 51 chances created, 1,755 touches, and 1,077 successful passes, including 228 ending in the final third. Felipe also made one start in the Canadian Championship.

NEW YORK RED BULLS
'15-'17: In his three seasons with New York Red Bulls, Felipe made 100 regular starts and appearances, tallying 10 goals and 17 assists while helping his side to the Supporters’ Shield in 2016. In 2017, he finished fifth in MLS in passes into the final third with 383.

MONTREAL IMPACT
’12-’14: Felipe compiled 86 starts in 94 MLS appearances, including playoffs, in his first three years with Montreal Impact, scoring 12 goals and 24 assists. In his first MLS regular season, he finished eighth in the league and led the Impact with 10 assists. In the Canadian Championship, Felipe helped Montreal hoist the Voyageurs Cup in 2013 and 2014, scoring in both tournament finals.

EUROPE
’08-’11: Prior to joining MLS, Felipe started his professional career in Italy before spending four years in Switzerland with FC Winterthur, FC Lugano, and FC Wohlen.
