VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC are pleased to announce details of their continued partnership with Shaw TV. This year, Whitecaps fans throughout British Columbia will be able to watch eight Whitecaps men’s regular season games and three Whitecaps women’s regular season matches live on Shaw TV.
“Last year Shaw TV provided a first-rate production and we are very pleased to continue our relationship with them,” said Whitecaps President Bob Lenarduzzi. “The increased exposure of having our games live on Shaw TV throughout BC only helps grow the Whitecaps brand and soccer in general. Shaw TV is an excellent addition to our existing Whitecaps broadcast schedule which already includes all men’s home and away games live on TEAM 1040 AM sports radio and USLlive.com via webcast.”
The Whitecaps men’s matches will be simulcast on TEAM 1040 AM sports radio, with Peter Schaad and Alan Errington providing the commentary. Paul Dolan will call the play-by-play for the women’s matches and the colour commentary will be provided by members of Canada’s women’s national team, schedule permitting. The final member of the on-air broadcast crew is Kristin Reid, who will be patrolling the side lines and providing in-game interviews and insight.
The first Whitecaps broadcast on Shaw TV will be this weekend’s doubleheader, Sunday, June 10. The Whitecaps women (1-1-0) battle the undefeated San Diego Sunwaves (3-0-0) at 4:00 p.m. and the USL First Division leading Whitecaps men (5-1-3) take on the Minnesota Thunder (1-5-3) at 7:00 p.m.
