BRADENTON, FL - Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency (11W-1L-0D) suffered their first defeat of the 2014-15 United States Soccer Development Academy season on Saturday morning, dropping a tight 1-0 decision to Montreal Impact U-18 (9W-0L-2D) in their first match of the USSDA Winter Showcase at the Premier Sports Complex in Bradenton, Florida.
Midfielder Heikel Jarras struck in the eighth minute for the Impact U-18 side, and despite a valiant effort from the ‘Caps, they couldn’t find a way to beat Montreal goalkeeper Yann-Alexandre Fillion.

The Impact hit the woodwork again in the 42nd minute, as Jarras almost picked up his second of the day, but the two sides went to halftime at the same 1-0 score.
After the break, the ‘Caps came out and dominated the flow of play, testing Fillon several times and hitting the post just after the hour mark. In the end, however, the Eastern Canadian side held on a for a 1-0 win.
The ‘Caps will have a chance to get right back at it on Sunday, as they take on New York Red Bulls U-18 in their second match of the USSDA Winter Showcase.
