With more than a month to go before kickoff, Whitecaps FC announced today that both of the club's marquee tournaments – the Whitecaps FC adidas Cup and the Whitecaps FC Showcase presented by Sport Chek – have sold out.
This year’s Whitecaps FC adidas Cup presented by Sport Chek is at capacity with 160 boys and girls teams from U-9 to U-12. That’s more than a 50% increase from last year with a large waiting list still in place.
The Whitecaps FC Showcase presented by Sport Chek has also grown with more than 92 teams attending. In total, over 3,200 players, along with staff and family, will be descending upon Surrey’s Newton Athletic Park on March 28 and 29 for the adidas Cup and April 3 to 5 for the Showcase weekend.
“We’re really pleased by the response to both tournaments this year,” said Whitecaps FC director of soccer development Dan Lenarduzzi. “Both tournaments are just a few years old and we are beginning to establish a tradition for both evernts. We look forward to hosting all the players, coaches, and parents to the tournaments and to the Whitecaps FC matches at BC Place.”
