Whitecaps FC team up with BC Soccer for the 2013 Provincial Youth Soccer Championships

VANCOUVER, BC— Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in collaboration with BC Soccer, is pleased to announce a series of activations at two of this year’s Provincial Youth Soccer Championships being held in Langley and North Vancouver. Whitecaps FC will have a unique presence on site at both tournament facilities, which are part of a series of provincial tournaments happening throughout the province.


These Championships will be held in North Vancouver at Inter River Park and in Langley at Willoughby Community Park. Each tournament day will see approximately 800 to 1,000 participants from communities across British Columbia take part in competition. Langley will feature Boys and Girls A Cup and Girls B Cup will be featured in North Vancouver. These four day tournaments will be held from Thursday, July 4 to Sunday, July 7, with the gold medal games on Sunday, July 7 at 2 p.m. PT.


Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi, Sam Lenarduzzi, manager of camps and clinics, and Whitecaps FC Major League Soccer players will be onsite at each location as part of the opening ceremonies on July 4 and will be available for photos, autographs, and a question and answer session. At Sunday’s awards presentation, ‘Caps MLS players will be on hand to present awards.


Through the community partnership between Whitecaps FC and BC Soccer, Whitecaps FC offered all tournament participants the opportunity to purchase tickets to attend the July 6 MLS match between Whitecaps FC and Seattle Sounders FC at BC Place.  These tickets were made available to Provincial Youth Soccer Championship participants at a special rate of $20 per ticket including applicable taxes and service fees. Approximately 1,500 Provincial Youth Soccer participants and their families will attend the match. In order to ensure that all ‘Caps fans and tournament participants are able to attend this highly anticipated match between a fierce Cascadia rival, additional seats at BC Place have been opened up to accommodate the Provincial Youth Soccer Championship participants. The capacity for the July 6 match has been increased to 22,500 from the traditional 21,000 configuration.


On Sunday, July 7 at 11 a.m. PT, Whitecaps FC reserves will host Seattle Sounders FC reserves at the Langley tournament site at Willoughby Community Park, located at 200th st. and 80th ave. All Provincial Youth Soccer Championship participants and fans are welcome to attend and cheer on the ‘Caps at this free match. Fans attending the reserves match are encourage to bring chairs, as seating in stands will be limited.
