“Thomas has shown us he has the ability to become one of Canada's best goalkeepers,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “Over the past few years, working directly with our goalkeeping coach Youssef Dahha, Thomas is now ready for the next step, and we look forward to seeing him make the most of this opportunity.”
Hasal, 22, started seven matches across the 2021 MLS regular season, posting a record of 2W-2L-3D. During his time with the club, the product of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has started 16 of his 17 appearances in all competitions since signing a first-team contract in March 2019.

Vancouver has been my home over the past few years, and I want to repay the fans, club, staff, and my teammates, by showing I can be a top goalkeeper in the league.”
Prior to signing a first-team contract, Hasal signed with the club’s Development Squad in November 2018 and went on to start 11 of his 12 appearances for the side.
In his youth, Hasal came through the Whitecaps FC Saskatchewan Academy Centre and later joined the club’s academy in August 2016, where he received call-ups to Canada’s U-18, U-20 and U-23 teams.
