VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that wingback/forward Cristian Dájome has agreed to a contract extension through 2024, with a club option for 2025.
"Since arriving at the club, Cristian has proven to be an impact player in various positions and has taken on a larger mentorship role in the locker room, especially with our younger South American players,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “Cristian was in the final year of his contract and we are now excited to confirm he will be with us for a number of years. We look forward to seeing him continue his growth as a leader in our group on and off the pitch.”

Dájome, 28, has led Whitecaps FC in goal contributions since joining the team in 2020 with 16 goals and 11 assists, while also making the most appearances with 64 and playing the most minutes at 4,978.
To start this season, the versatile playmaker who is capable of being deployed as a forward or a wingback, has one goal and one assist in five starts. In 2021, the Colombian had a career best year with 12 goals and six assists and led Whitecaps FC in shots (56), duels won (216, sixth in MLS), and touches (1,530) while being named to the MLS Team of the Week four times. Dájome also recorded a goal in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, as well as a goal and an assist in the Canadian Championship.
Prior to joining Whitecaps FC in February 2020, Dájome helped Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle to a historic CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana championship. Before his time in Ecuador, Dájome had spent the entirety of his career in his native Colombia starting with Bogotá FC.
Over 10 professional seasons, Dájome has recorded 52 goals in 304 appearances at the club level.
TRANSACTION: On April 13, 2022, Whitecaps FC sign wingback/forward Cristian Dájome to a new contract through 2024, with a club option for 2025.
