SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency teams continue their undefeated streak into April as they faced San Diego Surf on Saturday. With only eight games left in the United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) 2013-2014 season, both teams are looking to make their final playoff push. The U-18s won 4-1 while the U-16s battled back to draw even at 1-1.

Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency continued their hot streak with another win against San Diego Surf as they make their push for the playoffs. The ‘Caps scored twice in each half as Marco Bustos notched a brace, and has now scored seven goals in his last three games.
San Diego would take the early lead scoring on seven minutes.
The ‘Caps would pick it up towards the end of the half as they began to build their attack. Bustos would bury home the equalizer in the 31st minute and the game winner in the 45th minute, a product of the squad's quick combination passing in final third to go up 2-1.
Despite the two goals from leading scorer Bustos (11), the ‘Caps finished the first half looking to come out stronger in the second.
“We were really disappointed with our first half performance,” U-18 assistant coach Steve Meadley told whitecapsfc.com. “We weren’t connecting and linking up play like we know we can and we looked a bit lethargic. We weren’t putting our passing game together. We were very disappointed with that. We let the boys know that at halftime and we regrouped and we went over the things we need to do to be more successful.”
The Blue and White would respond in the second half as they shut out the Surf and doubled their advantage to 4-1. Kyle Jones found the back of the net in the 47th minute, while his teammate and second-half substitute Matthew Chow turned one in, burying a shot into the top corner in the 88th minute.
“We got the response from the players in the second half,” Meadley told whitecapsfc.com. “That makes us happy as a coaching staff, that we were able to react and give a positive response in the second half.
