VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that the club has re-signed Homegrown midfielder Russell Teibert to a new contract through 2020.

Teibert, 24, is the longest serving player on Whitecaps FC, having first joined the club's Residency program in September 2008. Since signing an MLS Homegrown contract in March 2011, the 5-foot-8 midfielder has recorded two goals and 15 assists in 101 starts and 141 appearances for the first team in all competitions, including starting the club’s first ever MLS match on March 19, 2011.

The time up until now was just the beginning. I know there’s so much more to come from me and from the team. Having played in six editions of the Canadian Championship, Teibert is the all-time club record holder for matches played in the tournament with 19. He was awarded the George Gross Memorial Trophy as the Canadian Championship Most Valuable Player in 2015 as the 'Caps won their first-ever Voyageurs Cup.
Internationally, the Niagara Falls, Ontario native has a goal and an assist in seven starts and 20 appearances for the Canadian senior men's national team. In addition, Teibert is a two-time recipient of the Canadian U-17 Player of the Year award, receiving the honour in 2008 and 2009.
