VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Tuesday that midfielder Andy Rose suffered a concussion and a facial fracture during the second half of last Saturday's match at Houston Dynamo.
“Our medical staff is going through the appropriate protocols to ensure that Andy receives the best care and returns to full health as soon as possible," said Whitecaps FC head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Andy is a fantastic individual and an important member of our club. We're all thinking of him during this time and look forward to seeing him soon."
Rose was released from the hospital in Houston on Monday and will undergo another scan on Thursday before he is cleared to travel.
"I hated having to come off at that point in the game," added Rose. "I knew we could have created a couple more chances and taken points home with us. In saying that, I understand how important it is to be smart with head injuries and am so grateful for the incredible care I received from our medical staff. Jose Jimenez stayed with me for two long days in the hospital. I am also thankful to Dr. Rehal Bhojani from the Dynamo who went out of his way to make sure I received the best possible treatment. I can’t wait to get back to Vancouver and back to work with my teammates."
Rose, 29, joined Whitecaps FC in December following three plus seasons in the United Kingdom. The midfielder started the last two matches for Vancouver.
