VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Monday that the club has placed defender Javain Brown on waivers.
“We are very thankful to Javain for his contributions to the club over the last three plus years and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “Over the last month, we’ve had several open conversations, explored a number of options, ultimately everyone agreed this was the best decision for the club, as well as Javain and his family.”
Brown, 25, was selected 23rd overall by Whitecaps FC at the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and signed in February 2021. The Jamaican international started 81 of his 107 appearances across all competitions for the club, recording two goals and 10 assists. Brown also helped the club win back-to-back Canadian Championships in 2022 and 2023.
With the transaction, Vancouver now has two open international roster slots.
