VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Vancouver United FC announced a renewed partnership on Monday as part of the Network Partner Program.
The Whitecaps FC Network Partner Program is focused on the continued development of soccer talent in Canada. The program provides clubs and associations across Canada with the opportunity to team up with the Whitecaps to grow and develop their soccer operations. Network Partner clubs benefit through technical services, curriculum, coach development, exclusive insider access to events, and developmental pathway opportunities.
“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with Vancouver United FC, the inaugural members of our Network Partner Program,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “The work being done at the grassroots level is of enormous importance to the growth of the sport across Canada, and VanU has made a significant impact here in Vancouver. We’re looking forward to continuing to work together.”
Vancouver United FC is the only club in Vancouver that is able to offer every level of play of play from U-4 to adult and prides itself on having achieved Canada Soccer’s National Youth Club License. With over 3,000 players, their goal is to meet all needs regardless of age or level of play and stand behind their motto of “Game. Club. Community.” in everything they do.
“We’ve used the last eighteen months through the pandemic to double down on ensuring we are in tune with what our members need and expect from this club,” said Vancouver United FC executive director Gregor Young. “Youth soccer is coming out of a period of uncertainty and the growth we’ve seen makes us very optimistic about the future of youth soccer in the Lower Mainland. We want to be a key part of moving it forward."
VanU is the product of a 2011 merger that saw Dunbar Soccer, Kerrisdale Soccer and Point Grey Soccer clubs vote to join and become Vancouver United FC. The club has players from all corners of the city and looks forward to continued growth both in terms of size and quality of program delivery.
