VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday that the club has loaned striker Theo Bair to Norwegian club Hamarkameratene.
The Homegrown product from the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy will be joining the 1. divisjon side through the end of the 2021 season. The transaction was completed on Thursday, prior to the close of the international transfer window in Canada and the United States.
“It’s very important for Theo to get minutes to take the next step,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director and chief executive officer. “This is currently the top club in the second division of Norway, fighting for promotion. This will be a great environment and challenge for him to develop and grow before coming back to our team.”
Bair, 21, is in his third active season in MLS, compiling three goals and two assists in 18 starts and 39 appearances across all competitions in his young professional career.
At the international level, the Ottawa, Ontario native has two caps for the Canadian men’s national team, including a goal in his senior debut.
Based in the town of Hamar, HamKam currently sit atop the First Division table 13 games into the 2021 season. Managed by former Norwegian international Kjetil Rekdal, the club’s 30-match schedule runs through November 27.
