Vancouver Whitecaps FC high performance head coach Gordon Forrest will be in Saskatchewan next week as the club holds its evaluations for the Fall Prospects Academy July 22 to 25 at the University of Saskatchewan. Boys and girls ages U-10 to U-16 will have the opportunity to be evaluated for selection to one of the Whitecaps FC Saskatchewan Prospects Academy teams.
Selected players will train weekly with Whitecaps FC regional head coach Bryce Chapman and be involved in select events, including the opportunity for travel to Vancouver for an MLS weekend that includes training and a Whitecaps FC MLS game.
Forrest recently returned from Houston where the Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency team finished among the top six teams from the 80-team United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) - the top development league in North America.
“I’m looking forward to my time here in Saskatchewan at our Academy Centre to be able to evaluate and assess the top talent for entry into our Saskatchewan academy program," said Forrest.
Whitecaps FC have also launched their Fall Skills Academy for boys and girls ages U-7 to U-12. This program provides motivated players of all skill levels the opportunity to train with Whitecaps FC staff and follow the club's curriculum. This also include visits by Whitecaps FC Vancouver staff.
Players interested in more information and registration for the evaluation, or to sign up for the Skills Academy, can visit www.whitecapsfc.com/academy or contact Bryce Chapman at bchapman@whitecapsfc.com or 306.230.1313.
