VANCOUVER, BC
– Vancouver Whitecaps FC have announced the roster for the Development Squad who will be travelling to South Korea for a pair of friendlies against Daejeon Citizen FC and Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
The Development Squad is a combination of young Whitecaps FC first team players, Academy graduates and local talent, as well as top prospects currently in the Academy.
The travelling squad is headlined by first team prospects

. Five players on the roster were also part of Canada's recent squad to qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup, while goalkeeper
Chituru Odunze
helped the United States qualify.
The ‘Caps play Daejeon Citizen FC this coming Saturday, June 8 at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium. The team will then travel to take on Suwon Samsung Bluewings on Monday, June 10. The match will be played at 4 p.m. local time (12 a.m. PT) at the Suwon training centre.

Daejeon Citizen FC
Famously known for being Korea’s first club founded upon the support of their local community, the club currently plays in K League 2, the second highest level of professional soccer in Korea. Prior to the 2019 MLS season, Daejeon transferred their homegrown midfielder Inbeom Hwang to Whitecaps FC. Hwang grew up in Daejeon, where he played his entire professional career until his subsequent transfer to MLS.
Suwon Samsung Bluewings
Founded in 1995, the Bluewings currently play in K League 1, the highest level of professional soccer in Korea, where they have won the league four times. They are widely known across Asia for their domestic and continental success, as they have won a total 22 trophies since 1998.
