VANCOUVER, BC – With the launch of the new EA Sports FIFA 22 title, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are stepping up their game.
The ‘Caps bolstered their eSports team on Tuesday, adding significant star power with the signing of former eMLS League Series champion Gordon “Fiddle” Thornsberry.
The accomplished FIFA player joins FIFA 21 Global Series North American Qualifier 1 champion Alex “Exraa” Gonzalez on the Whitecaps FC eSports team.
“I’m super excited for a new opportunity and a chance to represent a club like Whitecaps FC,” said Fiddle. “My goal is to bring some silverware back to Vancouver.”
Fiddle will participate in the FIFA 22 Global Series on the way to the 2022 FIFAe World Cup. In addition, he will team up with Exraa in 2v2 action for the FIFAe Club Series 2022 on the way to the 2022 FIFAe Club World Cup.
Fiddle was dominant during the 2020 eMLS season, winning both the League Series One and League Series Two titles to finish top of the regular season standings. He also went on to win the EA Sports FIFA 20 Summer Cup Series in North America as the sole representative from eMLS, crowning him the best player on the continent for that year.
This past year, Fiddle also represented the United States at the FIFAe Nations Cup Qualifiers alongside D.C. United’s KingCJ0. Fiddle and the U.S. finished as runners-up in the tournament, qualifying for the FIFAe Nations Cup in Denmark, which was eventually cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to entering eMLS, Fiddle represented French powerhouse Paris St. Germain, where he won the Gfinity FIFA 18 US Spring Cup.
