Whitecaps FC Academy U-17s learn opponents for 2019 Generation adidas Cup

Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy U-17 boys have learned their group and opponents for the 2019 Generation adidas Cup from April 13 to 20 at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.
The ‘Caps will be playing in the Premier Division and have been drawn into Group C. In the tournament’s cross-over format, they will play teams in Group D.

The semifinal and placement matches will then be played on Thursday, April 18, with the championship final and concluding placement matches taking place on Saturday, April 20.


Other international clubs competing in the Premier Division include Club Tijuana (Mexico), FC Midtylland (Denmark), and Ulsan Hyundai FC (South Korea).


The Generation adidas Cup has developed into the premier youth tournament in which elite MLS academy players test their talents against international competition. Previous MLS academy products to participate in the tournament in recent years include Weston McKennie (Schalke 04 / FC Dallas Academy), Djordje Mihailović (Chicago Fire / Chicago Fire Academy), Paxton Pomykal (FC Dallas / FC Dallas Academy), and Efrain Álvarez (LA Galaxy / LA Galaxy Academy), among others.
