Our ‘Caps went into Kansas City and came away with a hard-earned point on a brilliant free kick from Camilo which tied the game 1-1, giving the ‘Caps another road point.
So what did we learn?

Since becoming a starter Leveron has showed all the qualities of an outstanding central defender.
He has been dominant in the air, self-assured in his tackling, and so composed when he is on the ball.
But last night his performance was on another level and told us what the coaches already knew: that he is a top centre back with a tremendous amount of potential.
We were all concerned when we lost Andy O’Brien to injury, especially as we had already seen our captain Jay DeMerit go down with a long-term injury. But it turns out we needn’t of worried because Leveron has risen to the occasion with some stellar performances on the field and none better than last night against Sporting Kansas City.
Note: You also have to hand it to Brad Rusin for a rock solid showing last night.

I know. I know what our record is on the road. But when you look at the way we are starting to play away from home, there is a lot more belief on our road travels.
Last night, for me, we looked very comfortable for most of the match and deserved the point we were able to attain.
We got a bit of fortune when KC hit the post, but for the most part we limited them to only half-chances.
There’s no doubt we could of kept the ball a little bit better, but we were on the road and you have to give some credit to Sporting for the pressure they put us under throughout the match.
I always felt that we could break the 1-1 tie and were more than capable of winning the game, which I have not always felt.
It seems to me we are becoming a good road team.

There is not much more to say about Camilo anymore, but how can I not talk about him after that stunning free kick.
Right now he is in the form of his life and as soon as he lined up to take the kick you almost knew something special was going to happen.
I’m not sure how he missed out on MLS Player of the Month for June (Chicago’s Mike Magee won by two votes), but frankly I’m sure he does not care.
We have just witnessed Brazil wining the Confederations Cup, and we’re lucky to get our own Brazilliance (as coined by Scott Rintoul on Twitter last night) every game our ‘Caps play.
How sweet it is.
