Whitecaps FC trade international roster slot to LAFC for $50,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that the club has placed midfielder Caio Alexandre on the season-ending injury list. In addition, the club has acquired $50,000 in 2022 General Allocation Money from Los Angeles Football Club in exchange for a 2021 international roster slot.

Alexandre, 22, suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot during a training session on August 14 and underwent successful surgery on August 23.

The native of Duque De Caxias, Brazil joined Whitecaps FC in March, making 15 appearances and 11 starts in his abbreviated first year at the club.

With the trade, Whitecaps FC hold 10 international slots through 2021 and have 10 international players on their roster including Janio Bikel, Javain Brown, Deiber Caicedo, Cristian Dajome, Bruno Gaspar, Ryan Gauld, Erik Godoy, Leonard Owusu, Ranko Veselinovic and Pedro Vite.
