VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver WhitecapsFC announced on Wednesday that the club has loaned striker Myer Bevan to Swedish club Husqvarna FF through July 10, with options to recall, and to extend through the end of 2018.
Competing in the Division 1 Södra, the third tier of football in Sweden, Husqvarna FF begin league play on April 8.
“This is a great opportunity for Myer to pick up some important minutes on the pitch,” said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. “He’s shown that hunger you’re looking for at training, and putting him in this environment will further push him in his development. We’re looking forward to following his progress.”
The 20-year old New Zealand international signed a first-team contract with the ‘Caps last December after emerging last year with Whitecaps FC 2. He finished the 2017 USL campaign with three goals in 11 starts and 13 appearances after signing midway through the season.
The Auckland native was recently called up to the New Zealand men’s national team, earning his third cap as a substitute in their March 24 friendly against Canada. He made his senior debut for the Kiwis last year, scoring his first goal in just his second appearance in FIFA World Cup qualifying against Solomon Islands.
