The pass, the chip, the somersault celebration. Robert Earnshaw introduced himself to fans in a big way last Saturday night at BC Place, scoring a 90th-minute winner in his Vancouver Whitecaps FC debut.
It’s a goal that will live long in the memory of ‘Caps fans, which is exactly how the experienced striker likes it. “It’s a very special moment in football, it’s what people come to the games for, to see those things,” Earnshaw told us when we sat down with him at training. “I love to share that as much as possible, to share that elation of scoring a goal.”
However, that goalscoring feeling isn’t the only thing Earnshaw has to share. So we sat down for an exclusive one on one with the former Welsh international to find out the history of his iconic celebration and what being a member of Whitecaps FC means to him.
