Vancouver Whitecaps FC centre back Kendall Waston has been named to the MLS Team of the Week after helping the ‘Caps move into the top spot in the Western Conference with a 3-0 win over Minnesota United FC on Wednesday and 2-2 draw with Columbus Crew SC on Saturday.
Whitecaps FC attacking midfielder Yordy Reyna was also named to the MLS Team of the Week bench for the second straight week after recording a goal and two assists over the two matches
Waston played the full 90 minutes in both matches, accumulating 12 clearances and four interceptions. This is the Costa Rican’s third MLS Team of the Week selection in 2017.
He will not be in the lineup on Saturday against Colorado Rapids (7 p.m. PT at BC Place – tickets still available), however, due to caution accumulation. Waston will be eligible to return Wednesday, September 27 at Seattle Sounders FC.
