VANCOUVER, BC ā Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Friday that centre back Kendall Waston and midfielder Christian BolaƱos have been called up to the Costa Rican national team for their upcoming international friendlies against Spain and Hungary.
The Ticos make the trip to Malaga, Spain on November 11, and Budapest, Hungary three days later.
The matches will serve as a tuneup for Costa Rica, who qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup this past October.
Waston makes his return to international duty after scoring an added-time equalizer against Honduras to punch Costa Rica's trip to Russia. The 2017 Whitecaps FC Player of the Year has three goals in 23 caps under his belt.
BolaƱos, one of the longest tenured players on the national team, has six goals and 76 international appearances to his name.
The Costa Rican duo started in all three of the 'Caps MLS Cup Playoffs matches, combining for a goal and two assists in their Knockout Round win over San Jose Earthquakes.
