VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Tosaint Ricketts has agreed to a contract extension through 2021, the club announced on Tuesday.
Whitecaps FC are making their final preparations ahead of the 2020 MLS season, securing one of the club’s most experienced professionals and a respected presence in the locker room.

"We are building a roster here in Vancouver that includes a number of young professionals and it is important to have some experienced players who set the right tone and help guide the next generation,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “Tosaint is a great example for all our players, he provides leadership and at the same time knows when to have a little fun. We are very pleased to have Tosaint at our club.”

“Vancouver is a place where I always wanted to be and words can’t express how grateful I am to be here,” added Ricketts. “I’m very excited for my future with this club.”
Ricketts, 32, arrived in Vancouver in August 2019 and quickly provided contributions to the club on and off the pitch. Entering his 12th year as a professional, his career includes three seasons with Toronto FC from 2016 to 2018, as well as stops in Finland, Romania, Norway, Turkey, Israel, and Lithuania.
A versatile forward, Ricketts has 16 goals and four assists in 24 starts and 66 appearances in MLS competition including playoffs.
The Edmonton, Alberta native has served Canada at the senior level since 2009, scoring 17 goals in 60 caps. Ricketts is one of 14 Canadian-born players on the ‘Caps roster, six of which are current men’s national team players.
In his career, Ricketts has scored 81 goals in 205 starts and 331 appearances professionally and in international competition.
