VANCOUVER, BC – With less than four days until the 2023 MLS season kicks off at BC Place on Saturday, February 25, Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced that the club is expecting its largest home opener crowd since 2020.
“This is the most excitement that I have felt for the start of the season since joining the club,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer. “There is no question that this was our best preseason in years, both on and off the pitch. Now, we are all very excited to be back in Vancouver and ready to play in front of our terrific fans at BC Place on Saturday night.”
Last week, Whitecaps FC welcomed TELUS as the club’s premier partner through 2027. To celebrate the new partnership, TELUS team members will be giving away 20,000 co-branded Whitecaps FC scarves. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the match, which is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT.
Whitecaps FC enter the season after going 3W-0L-3D to end preseason at the Coachella Valley Invitational. The 'Caps MLS roster includes 20 returning players, featuring last year’s player of the year in attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld and most promising male player in attacking midfielder Pedro Vite, as well as 2022 midseason midfield additions Andrés Cubas, Julian Gressel and Alessandro Schöpf. During the offseason, the team also added eight new players, highlighted by goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka, centre back Mathías Laborda, and striker Sergio Córdova.
In addition to single match tickets, groups of 10 or more can save up to 33 per cent and get access to special tickets, while the Flex Pass allows fans to pick three or more matches and unlock exclusive benefits from only $66. For more information, fans can visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
