VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday a three-match U.S.-based preseason schedule in advance of the MLS regular season opener on April 18. All three preseason games in April are subject to sanctioning and approval from Canada Soccer and U.S. Soccer.
The ’Caps will first face USL Championship side Real Monarchs on Tuesday, April 6. The match will be played at Zions Bank Training Center in Herriman, Utah, with kickoff set for 12 p.m. PT.
Then on Saturday, April 10, Whitecaps FC play a doubleheader at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. The day’s slate begins with a 9:30 a.m. PT friendly against Chicago Fire FC, followed by a 12 p.m. PT fixture against USL Championship club Indy Eleven.
“We are very thankful to Real Monarchs, Chicago Fire and Indy Eleven for the opportunity. This preseason, every exhibition game, will have a lot of meaning for our group,” said Marc Dos Santos, Whitecaps FC head coach. “Our first match against Real Monarchs will provide the adaptation and chance to get used to the environment. The games on April 10 will provide the opportunity for the majority of our players to play 90 minutes. Our objective with the doubleheader is to gain the most match rhythm possible with one group playing Chicago and the other group playing Indy.”
Details on how to follow the matches live on the club’s channels will be confirmed in the coming days.
The ’Caps are currently holding the 2021 Training Camp, presented by Enerex, at the Whitecaps FC National Soccer Development Centre in Vancouver, BC, before flying to Sandy, Utah on Friday, April 2, where the club will start their 2021 MLS season.
Whitecaps FC kick off the regular season on Sunday, April 18 when they host Portland Timbers at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live across Canada on TSN and TSN GO.
