VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that the club has acquired the natural first round selection of the 2023 Major League Soccer SuperDraft from Los Angeles Football Club in exchange for a 2020 international roster slot.
With the trade, Whitecaps FC now hold nine international slots through 2020 and have eight international players on their roster.
Since February 2020, Major League Soccer provides its three Canadian clubs an additional $150,000 of General Allocation Money (GAM) each season to assist in acquiring an international roster slot. Whitecaps FC acquired an extra 2020 international roster slot from Portland Timbers on February 22 for $165,000 in GAM.
TRANSACTION: On October 15, 2020, Vancouver Whitecaps FC acquire the natural first round selection of the 2023 Major League Soccer SuperDraft from Los Angeles Football Club in exchange for a 2020 international roster slot.
