Kw’umut Lelum Child and Family Services, Lalum’utul' Smun’eem Aboriginal Child and Family Service Agency, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC are excited to announce the third annual Hope and Health Soccer event, taking place on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 and Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in Nanaimo, BC. This year, Harbour Air has joined as the Official Event Sponsor of Hope & Health.
The event reaches out to many VI Coast Salish communities in British Columbia, where we aim to help the children at the heart of this movement to experience #hopeandhealth. The theme for the 2014 event is Nautsa’mawt: Oneness; working together with one mind, one heart.

Tuesday, July 8, 2014 – Opening Ceremony: Evening of Champions (OPEN TO THE PUBLIC)
Hope and Health's evening ceremony will feature several inspiring presenters, including keynote speaker Theo Fleury – a former professional hockey player – who will share who will share his personal struggles in overcoming adversity to achieve greatness. The event will also including an introduction by Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson and indepth up-close interviews with ’Caps striker Kekuta Manneh – who moved to the United States from Gambia to play soccer at the age of 15 – defender Steven Beitashour, freshly back from the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Whitecaps FC ambassador Carl Valentine will facilitate the interviews with these two inspiring players. In addition, American Idol season two finalist Kimberly Caldwell will perform on stage with her fiancee, defender Jordan Harvey

VI Coast Salish children will have the opportunity to participate in a fun and healthy experience in a day filled with drills and skills from Whitecaps FC players and mascot Spike!
