VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s new Wave jersey was unveiled Wednesday in New York City by actor Jacob Tremblay and in Vancouver by first team players Inbeom Hwang, Ali Adnan and Russell Teibert.
Fans can purchase the jersey now at the official Whitecaps FC store in Gastown and online at whitecapsfc.com/wave. The store is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Hwang, Adnan and Teibert sported the new kit and met with fans during Wednesday’s jersey launch event at the official Whitecaps FC store in Gastown. As part of the 25th anniversary of MLS, the league’s complete collection of adidas jerseys were revealed at a special New York Fashion Week event. Tremblay, a Vancouver native and award-winning young actor, modeled the kit as the ‘Caps representative.
The Wave jersey represents a reflection of Vancouver and the water that surrounds the city. Inscribed on the nape of the neck is the city’s motto, “By Sea Land and Air We Prosper”. The waves are also a nod to Vancouver’s flag, which adorns the jersey’s jock tag.
“Waves have been an important symbol for our club since Denny Veitch came up with the Whitecaps name back in 1973,” said Mikkel Strøjer, Whitecaps FC vice president of brand and fan engagement. “The City of Vancouver's official flag and motto were the inspiration for our new kit and we were proud to collaborate with the Mayor’s office to incorporate both in the design.”
The ‘Caps will play in their Wave jerseys and smoke blue shorts for the first time on February 29, their home opener against Sporting Kansas City. For more merchandise and online shopping options, visit
