VANCOUVER, BC – The countdown is on – if it wasn’t already, that is.
Major League Soccer released the complete 2015 schedule on Wednesday – exactly two months ahead of Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s season opener on March 7 against Toronto FC.
Here are a few important dates to remember between now and then.
January 8-13: 2015 MLS Player Combine
The 2015 adidas MLS Player Combine will take place January 8-13 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Technical staffs from all MLS clubs will be on hand to watch the participants showcase their skills with the hopes of hearing their names called at the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. The combine will include fitness testing, matches, as well as time allotted for player interviews with the clubs.
January 15: 2015 MLS SuperDraft
The first two rounds of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft will be held on Thursday, January 15 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Whitecaps FC have one first-round pick (13th overall) and one second-rounder (38th overall). Stay tuned to whitecapsfc.com for complete coverage.
January 20: SuperDraft Rounds 3 & 4
Rounds 3 and 4 of the MLS SuperDraft will take place on Tuesday, January 20 via conference call. Whitecaps FC have three third-round picks (54th, 58th and 61st) and two fourth-rounders (73rd and 75th). Stay tuned to whitecapsfc.com for complete coverage.
January 24: Players report for Medical Day
Preseason will get underway on Saturday, January 24 when players report to Vancouver for medical testing and physicals before training begins the following week.
February 4-10: Desert Friendlies
Whitecaps FC’s 2015 preseason will include a trip to Tucson, Arizona, where they are slated to meet New England Revolution, San Jose Earthquakes and Houston Dynamo as part ofthe Desert Friendlies. Click here for more information.

February 18: Preseason Transfer Window
Major League Soccer’s preseason transfer window, the period during which MLS teams may request the transfer certificate of a player under contract in another country, is scheduled open on February 18 and run until May 12. Whitecaps FC acquired Pedro Morales during last year’s preseason transfer window.
February 22-28: Simple Invitational
For the second straight year, Whitecaps FC will participate in Portland’s annual preseason tournament: the Simple Invitational (formerly known as the Rose City Invitational). Last season, the ‘Caps were the tournament champions thanks to an undefeated 2W-0L-1D record. Click here for more information.
