VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Tristan Blackmon was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday on Monday for his performance against Los Angeles Galaxy in Matchday 4.
The native of Las Vegas, Nevada marked his 100th MLS appearances (including playoffs and MLS is Back tournament) by scoring his second goal of the season across all competitions in the 14th minute of the match.
Blackmon also recorded a team-high seven clearances, two interceptions, and three successful duels en route to helping the 'Caps secure their first road point of the season.
Blackmon becomes the first 'Caps player to be named to the Team of the Matchday this season.
Next up for the 'Caps is another road test as they face Western Conference rivals Minnesotan United FC this coming Saturday, March 25 at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. PT live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and AM730 radio, with the radio pre-game show starting at 4:30 p.m. PT.
