Thompson, a 28-year-old native of Vancouver, BC, is the youngest technical director in the league.

“Quinn has been a huge asset to our club, and has been outstanding in managing our professional teams,” said Schuster. “He is homegrown, and he takes great pride in working for his hometown club. He has a strong analytical mind and has proven he is ready to take this next step in his career. I’m happy to congratulate him on his well-earned promotion.”

Thompson first joined the club in 2017 as an intern, then returned in 2019 as a soccer operations specialist. In 2021, Thompson was promoted to executive analyst, a role he held until he was named director of player personnel in June 2022 and senior director of player personnel in June 2023.

"I am honoured to assume the role of technical director” added Thompson. “I am grateful to Axel Schuster for entrusting me with this responsibility and for his unwavering support. Working alongside a team of dedicated and hard-working individuals, I am privileged to contribute to our collective pursuit of achieving greater success and adding more trophies to this club."

Between his time with the ‘Caps, Thompson spent the summer of 2018 working as an intern in Major League Soccer’s player relations department in New York City, broadening his knowledge of league roster rules and regulations. Thompson was also the co-chair of the 2019 Ivey Sports Leadership Conference.

The Canadian is a graduate of Western University, with a specialization in finance. At Western, Thompson also worked as head of analytics and statistics for the varsity men’s hockey team.
