VANCOUVER, BC – Just call him Mr. October. Or better yet, Mr. October 25.
Remarkably, Kendall Waston’s goal in Wednesday night’s 5-0 playoff win over San Jose Earthquakes was the third time he has scored on October 25 during his time in Vancouver.
In 2014, Waston scored the epic goal that clinched Vancouver’s playoff berth in their final match of the regular season against Colorado Rapids.
In 2015, also in Vancouver’s regular season finale, Waston found the back of the net again, this time helping Whitecaps FC secure the club’s first-ever home playoff game.
And finally, on Wednesday night, he recorded a goal and an assist as Whitecaps FC claimed their first-ever playoff victory during the Major League Soccer era.
Coincidence? No chance.
As he has proven time and time again, for club and country, the big man loves the big occasion. And that should bode well for Sunday, when Whitecaps FC host defending MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC in the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinals (5:30 p.m. PT at BC Place - tickets moving fast).
Will Vancouver's Mr. October come through again?
