The Canadian Soccer Association announced on Tuesday that six Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency players have been called into a national talent identification camp. Among the players selected were Pre-Residency goalkeeper

A new generation of Canadian talent is identified every year by the academies representing Canadian professional clubs. And for a selection of players born in the year 2000, the time has come for them to be assessed with a look to set standards for upcoming player evaluation.
Head coach Ante Jazic will have a look at 27 players, mostly from MLS, NASL and regional academy systems as they start preparations for talent identification camps in 2015.
“We are excited to start a new cycle with our 2000 age group,” said Jazic. “The MLS and NASL academies are a critical component to the development of young Canadian players.”
As was the case in 2014, Canada Soccer will run a series of regional talent identification camps next year with the goal of identifying talented young players and to give them early experience in the international game.
Players were recommended for this camp and will get three days of training starting on Tuesday 21 October.
“This camp will allow us to evaluate the top prospects recommended by their respective clubs and serve as a benchmark in terms of standards as we embark with our regional camps early next year,” said Jazic. “Our main objective is to identify potential candidates for future national teams and expose them to international competition at a younger age.”
