The rumour mill is churning, alright.
With the English transfer window set to open on July 1, here’s a roundup of some of the different players who have been linked to Crystal Palace – keeping in mind that the FA Cup finalists will visit BC Place for an international friendly against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 19.
CHRISTIAN BENTEKE (LIVERPOOL)
Here’s one of the bigger – and more recent – names that have been thrown out there. Benteke, who is currently with the Belgian national team at the Euros, spent the 2015 season with Liverpool.
“The 25-year-old admitted before Euro 2016 that he would consider his options if it becomes clear he does not feature in Jurgen Klopp’s immediate plans. And if the Belgian does leave Anfield, bookmakers believe his next destination will be London. Crystal Palace are currently the favourites to sign Benteke this summer with Sky Bet pricing up a move to Selhurst at 5/2.” – News Shopper
STEFANO STURARO (JUVENTUS)
Reports suggest that Palace and Chelsea are set to bid for the 23-year-old midfielder who is currently representing Italy at Euro 2016.
“Eagles boss Alan Pardew is desperate to bolster a squad that faltered badly in the second half of last season and sees Sturaro as the ideal player to add quality to his midfield. The Italian press claim that Palace have been tracking Sturaro since the January transfer window and are now ready to launch a bid for his services.” – Club Call
ANDROS TOWNSEND (NEWCASTLE UNITED)
English winger Andros Townsend has drawn considerable interest with Newcastle having been relegated to the Championship – and Crystal Palace are reported to be among his suitors.
“Crystal Palace intend to trigger the release clause in Andros Townsend’s contract at Newcastle United and will learn whether the England international is willing to swap Tyneside for south London when he returns from holiday this month.” – The Guardian
TIM KRUL (NEWCASTLE UNITED)
Speaking of Newcastle, Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul also appears to be a hot commodity with the likes of Everton, Southampton, and Crystal Palace showing interest.
“Alan Pardew is understood to be looking to sign a goalkeeper this summer. And Krul – who has a year left on his contract at the relegated club – is one potential target.” – The Shields Gazette
