VANCOUVER, BC – Over the past few months, Mauro Rosales has arguably been one of Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s most dangerous attacking players.
And on Sunday evening at BC Place, he got his reward.
The 34-year-old Argentine scored his first goal in a ‘Caps uniform and added an assist in Vancouver’s dominant 3-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes.
For his efforts, Rosales has been named to the MLS Team of the Week.
Rosales’ goal on Sunday was his first in 50 matches. The last time he scored was October 9, 2013 – coincidentally, against Vancouver.
The assist was a pretty big one, too, seeing as it resulted in Whitecaps FC’s first goal on a corner since last year's regular season finale.
It was a big night for Rosales – and he capped it off by showing his support to a good friend who recently lost his father.
Next up for Whitecaps FC is back-to-back matches with Seattle Sounders FC, Rosales’ former team, starting this Saturday at CenturyLink Field (7 p.m. PT kickoff on TSN1).
The two teams will then meet again four days later in Vancouver’s first-ever CONCACAF Champions League Match on August 5 at BC Place. Be a part of history and secure your tickets today.
