VANCOUVER, BC – Time to rack up those air miles!
MLSsoccer.com has calculated each team’s total travel distance in 2018 and – surprise, surprise – Vancouver Whitecaps FC are at the top of the list. According to MLSsoccer.com, the ‘Caps will travel a total of 51,178 miles (or 82,363 kilometres) for their 17 away matches this season.
Full disclosure: this wasn’t a scientific calculation. For any given road trip, MLSsoccer.com simply took the distance between each team’s stadium “as the crow files” and multiplied it by two to make it a round trip (not taking into account connecting flights and such), but you get the point.

According to these calculations, Vancouver’s longest trip of the year is their visit to Yankee Stadium on August 4 against New York City FC (3,907 kilometres from stadium to stadium), followed by their trip to Philadelphia on June 23 (3,859 kilometres from stadium to stadium).
At the other end of the spectrum, defending MLS Cup champions Toronto FC will travel the least in 2018 (25,891 miles or 41,667 kilometres).
